Meet the Zedonk ...
Eric Shapiro - NY Daily Press 7/29/2010
You’ve heard of mules, you’ve (perhaps) heard ligres, but how about a zedonk? Well you’d better get used to the idea, because one was born about a week ago at the Chestatee Wildlife Preserve in Lumpkin County, Ga. Zedonks aren’t born often; the aforementioned preserve hasn’t had one for 40 years.
Despite its uniqueness, the zedonk, which possesses the instincts of a zebra (want to know how horses and zebras behave differently? Ask a zoologist!) will be permitted to roam with the other animals soon. But don’t expect to hear about a family of the things any time soon; hybrid species tend to be sterile.
