Phishhead Lands on Head at Jones Beach Theater ...
Eric Shapiro - NY Press - 8/18/2010
A lot of people don’t like Phish, but is it worth attempting suicide to escape from one of the band's concerts? That’s exactly what someone did last night at the Jones Beach Amphitheater shortly before the band’s second set. Well, OK, maybe it was for a different reason relating to certain psychedelic substances.
Regardless, the man, currently identified only as Luke, took a header off the raised mezzanine and into the seats below, falling approximately 50 feet and shattering the back of a chair when he landed. The Daily News reports that he suffered major head trauma and is currently in “critical but stable condition.”
According to jam band message board Phantasy Tour, one concert attendee suffered minor injuries. Those seated in the blood-soaked vicinity were escorted to new seats by venue staff. Unfortunately, the concert went on and Phish finished its second set.
